I would like to congratulate our Fall 2015 Undergraduates and Graduates of the Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism.   We are happy to announce that our first Online Executive Masters cohort will graduate this December.  I would like to wish a warm UNO welcome to our returning students, newest Freshman, Graduate, and Transfer students.  Last but not least, greetings to our alumni who live in the United States and all over the world.......

Chef Ricardo Fredricks retired from UNO at the end of Summer 2015. He was well loved by all for his food service skills, teaching abilities, and most of all for his sense of humor. He had a productive career at the School for over 30 years and since he taught the required Food Production class HRT 2030, he has influenced every single undergraduate student who passed through UNO during his time.............

Dr. Harsha Chacko taught two sections of the Wine Class at the Glories of France Study Abroad program in Montpellier, France during Summer 2015. He had 15 students and classes were held at Montpellier SupAgro (Agriculture College) which also houses the Institute for Higher Education in Wine and Vines. The six week program included field trips to Paris, Avignon, St. Guilhem and Chateau Neuf Du Pape. The class also visited Chateau Camplazens in the appellation of La Clape; a winery run by former New....

Once again the Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association with the University of New Orleans put together the Hospitality Career Fair. There were numerous students in attendance from both graduate and undergraduate programs to network with industry leaders.

Dr. Bordelon presented a paper titled An Exploratory Study of the Destination Management Company (DMC): Building a Profile, at the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA) in Portland, Oregon. The conference was held in June 2015 and recognizes efforts by educators and industry professionals to improve the travel industry by supporting quality tourism research. Dr. Bordelon’s presentation was the culmination of a collaboration with the Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) and the UNO Hospitality Research Center.......

Dr. Green and the students participating in the Food Production course got the incredible opportunities to learn industry aspects by participating in food production laboratories at major hotels in New Orleans. 

On September 16th the class went to the Marriott Hotel to participate in a laboratory and work with chefs on safety, sanitation, equipment identification. The students had the opportunity to work with dough and make pizza, and plate desserts and entrees for a banquet of 400 attendees scheduled at the hotel.
